YPOPs! 0.9.7.3
YPOPs! is a free open source software that provides POP3 and SMTP access to Yahoo! Mail.
You can use your favourite email client, be it Outlook, Thunderbird, Netscape, Eudora, IncrediMail I or whatever else you like and connect to Yahoo! Mail seamlessly.
This application is more like a gateway. It provides a POP3 server interface at one end to talk to email clients and an HTTP client (browser) interface at the other which allows it to talk to Yahoo! The same concept holds good for SMTP as well.
YPOPs! was started in May 2002 and over the years has a very large user community with over 3 million downloads.
The following features are part of the wish list for future releases of YPOPs!
* A better System Tray Icon on Windows, possibly with animation when emails are being downloaded
* Running YPOPs! as a Windows Service
* Separation of the UI from the core server so that the memory footprint is reduced
* Adding Yahoo! folder names to the Subject Line instead of adding it as a header. This will enable filtering on clients like Outlook Express
* A Developers Guide to enable others to build the YPOPs! source code
Changes in Version 0.9.7.3 (10 March 2009):
1. Removed ALL third-party libraries (curl, openssl, …). IMAP<>POP3 does not rely on any of them. When we get to fixing SOAP and SMTP, I’ll reintroduce the correct libraries
2. The code has been run thru a Memory checker (Boundschecker) and a few memory corruptions have been fixed.
3. Emails should hopefully be downloaded with the newest one first!
Warning: IMAP might not be enabled for all accounts! Switch your profile to Yahoo! Asia if it fails at first!
